IPL Playoffs Rules for 2022
There are two Qualifiers and one Eliminator in the postseason. First, Qualifier 1 is played, then Eliminator, and finally Qualifier 2.
Qualifier 1:
The first Qualifier is contested by the top two teams in the standings. The Qualifier is comparable to a semifinal. The winner of this match advances directly to the IPL championship game.
The loser of Qualifier 1 competes in Qualifier 2 for a second chance at the championship. Thus, the teams finishing in the top two positions in the IPL points table have two opportunities to qualify for the IPL final.
Eliminator:
The Eliminator is contested between the teams who finish third and fourth. As the name implies, the losing team is eliminated from the tournament. The winner of this match advances to Qualification Round 2.
Qualifier 2:
This game is played between the loser of Qualifier 1 and the victor of the Eliminator. Again, this is a semifinal, with the winner advancing to the championship match.
IPL Final:
This renowned tournament’s final and most essential stage is contested by the winners of Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2, respectively.
Who qualified for the playoffs the majority of the time?
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) qualified for the playoffs the most times in IPL history. CSK has qualified for the playoffs in 11 of the 12 seasons. CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in IPL 2020.
